A Hollywood ex-wife is set to hit the dance floor on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Marla Maples, the former wife of business mogul Donald Trump and star of the now defunct ABC series Ex-Wives Club, has been cast as a celebrity participant on the sixth and upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars, as In Touch Weekly reported on Friday.

The magazine reports that a friend of Marla Maples sad that the 44-year-old actress has “landed a spot on the hottest show. She’s in great shape, so dancing is only going to make her look even better.”

The friend added that the producers of the hit celebrity dance competition are hoping Trump, who stars in NBC’s The Apprentice, will join the show’s studio audience to watch Marla perform on the show.

Marla Maples was Trump’s second wife and the two were married for more than five years. They also have a daughter named Tiffany, who was born in 1993. In 1999, the couple divorced.

Just last summer, Maples starred alongside Shar Jackson and Angie Everhart in ABC’s short-lived series, Ex-Wives Club. The show featured the hosts helping recent divorcees move on with their lives by getting rid of things that had to do with their former life partners.

Nonetheless, Marla Maples isn’t the only one that is being rumored to be among the contenders in Dancing with the Stars 6. In fact, In Touch claims that actor Sean Hayes, most known for his portrayal of the flamboyant Jack McFarlane on NBC’s Will & Grace, may also grace the dance floor of the celebrity competition. Meanwhile, E! Online’s Mark Malkin reported last week that Priscilla Presley, ex-wife of the legendary Elvis Presley, has “signed on, or is close to signing on” to the show. However, a representative for Presley told Malkin that she is not “confirmed to do Dancing [with the Stars],” but “could not confirm nor deny” that she has been in talks with producers.

Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars premieres on Monday, March 17 at 8pm on ABC, while the network is set to officially announce the contenders later this month.

Who said Dancing with the Stars is all about reviving one’s showbiz career? More than that, Dancing with the Stars has become a venue for celebrities to show off their other talents, aside from acting. In fact, another big name has set her eyes on the dance floor as Celine Dion, the multi-awarded Canadian singer has expressed her desire to be part of the highly watched celebrity competition series.

The 39-year-old singer/songwriter recently revealed to TV Guide that she is a big fan of ABC’s Emmy-nominated Dancing with the Stars. In fact, she went backstage on Monday night’s show after she pre-tapped two songs for the Dancing with the Stars finale next week. TV Guide reports that one of the songs is “My Heart Will Go On,” the theme of the hit movie, Titanic.

“I hope they invite me again. I want to dance,” Celine Dion said to TV Guide. “For me, it’s not about a contest. It’s about having the privilege to share the dancing floor with the most amazing, talented people, and to share music. It’s not about winning. It’s about dancing as many times as possible.”

Dion seemed serious about her joining Dancing with the Stars, despite her little experience of ballet training when she was a child. Moreover, the performance of six Dancing with the Stars professional dancers, including Tony Dovolani, Cheryl Burke, Mark Ballas and Karina Smirnoff, made Dion even more excited. She said their performance made it difficult for her to focus on her lyrics, as she was mesmerized with their dancing.

“I was having a hard time singing because I was like, ‘Oh, I want a dress just like that! Oh, I want a flower, too. Oh, my god, I want a body like that,” Dion said. “I wish I could dance like that as I sing the song.’ But it’s impossible. It’s one or the other. But I was imagining that the dancers were me.”

Nia Peeples from CBS’ The Young and the Restless recently confirmed her non-participation on the new season of Dancing with the Stars. Contrary to reports that she was on this season’s list of celebrity competitors, she said that she won’t be appearing on the highly-watched series.

The 45-year-old singer-actress confirmed this through her official website.

“Guess what? It’s a [rumor]! But everyone here in town is hearing the same thing you’re hearing so don’t feel bad,” Nia Peeples said. However, she expressed delight in the thought that CBS had considered her for the reality series.

“The sad thing is I won’t be on [Dancing With the Stars] this season. The good thing is a rumor means they are seriously considering [putting me on the show],” she explained. “Also CBS called my agent in a panic when they heard, complaining that they were just starting to develop my character on [The Young and the Restless] and would be needing more of my time. The other good thing is that I can contractually do it next season.”

Earlier this year, Peeples was cast for the soap opera, The Young and the Restless, where she plays Karen Taylor, Nikkia Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) campaign manager. Peeples also appeared in various primetime series before joining the soap, and these shows include Walker, Texas Ranger, Andromeda, Barbershop and Early Edition.

Nia Peeple’s website reported that her latest air dates on The Young and the Restless include September 10, 17, 18, 24.

As Peeples won’t be appearing on Dancing with the Stars, another soap actress will be gracing the dance floor with his moves. All My Children’s Cameron Mathison was cast to appear on the reality dance competition with professional dancer Edyta Sliwinska.

This is not the first time that a daytime actor participated in the competition, as the first season of Dancing with the Stars featured General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco and daytime veteran John O’Hurley. The actors competed with each other and Monaco emerged victorious in the first season of Dancing with the Stars.

The latest couple to take the boot in Dancing with the Stars were Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas, but the two’s partnership doesn’t seem to end there. They have now taken their dance floor chemistry up a notch, as their first official date took place last weekend.

Professional dancer Mark Ballas, now Sabrina Bryan’s close friend, is ready to go up against the challenge once again and show the world that the couple can do one more stint with Dancing with the Stars. In fact, TV Guide lets us in on the scoop about his partner, Bryan. Ballas said that the initial reaction of viewers about Bryan having a dance background and thus an advantage was totally wrong.

“When I first met her, she was clueless,” Ballas revealed. “She could stand with her knees bent and go ‘Yeah, yeah, boom, boom, hip hop.’ But as far as having your feet turned out properly, your hair in a wonderful beehive hairdo and a ballroom gown with feathers at your feet? She didn’t know how to do that. It’s a totally different kettle of fish.”

However, he admitted that Bryan worked hard to fit into the required elegance and structured style of ballroom, thus becoming like his “protégé.” He added, “I’ve never worked with someone who wanted it so bad and was clinging onto every word I said. And so for me, it was frustrating because she worked so hard. It got very personal.”

Because of her passion, Ballas was inspired to come back and dance in the finale. The eliminated couples usually get a brief performance on the dance floor of Dancing with the Stars finals night, but Ballas admits to hearing rumors about them doing a full dance. ABC hasn’t confirmed anything yet, as TV Guide reported, but Ballas is ready to take the opportunity once he sees it.

“She was voted off too early,” Ballas stated. “She’s great, she’s lovely, and she was by far the best dancer. No one can take that away from her. So I want to come back to avenge her.”
